Meet J A Boulet

J A Boulet was born and raised in Western Canada. Both her parents were landed immigrants from Hungary, a direct result of the mass emigration during the 1956 Hungarian Revolution.

J A Boulet was born many decades later and raised as a Canadian in the aftermath of the Hungarian Revolution. Her father was a Hungarian soldier who fought bravely during the 1956 uprising. He escaped and was granted asylum in Canada. Ms. Boulet’s mother also fled from the revolution shortly after. The couple met, fell in love and built a family in Saskatchewan.

Raised in a refugee family with strong morals has provided J A with the foundation to which she has stood behind all her life. J A published her first book in 2020 and has since published one to two books annually. She writes with an unsettling realism, grabbing your emotions and refusing to let go. 1956: Love and Revolution was dedicated to her deceased parents. Ms. Boulet's father passed when she was young and her mother passed in 2015.

Her mother was instrumental in blossoming J A's writing career, encouraging her to write poetry at the young age of five. As she grew older, her high school teachers, noticing her talent, strongly encouraged her to write. She began writing short stories and astonished her teachers. During high school, she was intensely interested in Shakespeare and was often found reading with a book always in her hands.

Many years later, she finished writing several poetry collections, with romantic and major life event themes. She won poetry contests, participating in several poet strolls and was published in numerous poetry anthologies. Ms. Boulet soon became a history geek and became fascinated with ancestry and the rough path of immigration. She wrote her first historical fiction novel, based in Budapest during WWII. She finished and copyrighted this rough first novel but did not publish it. The book was far from perfect but, most importantly, the seeds of history were planted.

J A Boulet is currently active with several writer’s groups and colleges. She attended Photojournalism at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary, Alberta.

Her first historical fiction novel published in 2020, The Strong Amongst Us, is an epic story beginning in 1875 following Icelandic explorers in Canada. The sequel, The Strong Within Us, followed on November 11, 2020. Book 3 The War Between Us was released on June 18, 2021. The final book in The Olason Chronicles, The Origins, was released on June 8, 2022. Another standalone book 1956: Love and Revolution is a special treat for European Revolution fans. This fifth book was released on June 5, 2023.

Several more books are planned for release between 2023-2030.

J A Boulet lives in Canada with her two teenage sons and a crested gecko named Mossio. They spend their summers on the beaches surrounding Niagara Falls in Ontario, Canada.
